JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University women's golf welcomes a new addition to the program starting in the fall. Mawgan Vater, from Hertfordshire, England, is joining the team as its sixth member.
"We are excited to have Mawgan join our team at such a late point in the recruiting season," said Head Coach Jennifer Borocz. "She works extremely hard on and off the course and will fit in well with our team culture."
Vater is an accomplished junior golfer, serving as Junior County Captain for her school and local club. She is a three-time Scratch Champion at East Herts Golf Club and a County Champion in Hertfordshire County. She also has a runner-up finish in the Herts Girls Rosebowl, which allowed her to qualify for the South East Regional Girls Championship in the English Schools Golf Association, and was a Hertfordshire County Championship top-16 qualifier each of the last three years.
Vater joins seniors Amanda Detmer, Maria Brunzell and Louise Persson, as well as junior Hannah Berman and sophomore Paula Trejo Lerdo on the team, which is coming off of a record setting year. Among the accomplishments registered were a season best scoring average of 300.00, a first ever top-100 ranking on GolfStat, climbing as high as 84th, and two tournament wins.
