Detmer Goes Low on Day One of FIU Pat Bradley

BRADENTON, Fla. – Amanda Detmer shot a first round 69 and sits in second after day one of the 41st Annual FIU Pat Bradley Invitational at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club.

Jacksonville University women's golf finished the first round tied for eighth after shooting a 301.

"Amanda's golf game hasn't been where she wants it and she has been working very hard," said Head Coach Jennifer Borocz. "Today, that hard work paid off."

Detmer's best round of her senior year so far has her one shot off the lead. After an early bogey, she birdied three of her final five holes on the front nine. She dropped back to even par for the day on the back nine, before finishing strong, gaining strokes on three of her last six holes of the day, including ending the afternoon on a high-note with her round-best sixth birdie on hole 18.

Detmer did her damage on both Par 3s and Par 5s, shooting 2-under for the day on the eight such holes.

Hannah Berman is T17 after the first day, shooting three birdies en route to a 1-over 73, and sits just five shots off the lead. Louise Persson went sub-80, shaving three strokes off her back nine total to finish with a 79. Maria Brunzell and Mawgan Vater combined to sink four birdies.

No team made more birdies than the Dolphins through round one, as JU went low 16 times on the day. They were also sixth-best as a team on Par 5s, shooting even par collectively.

Tee times for tomorrow start with Vater going off hole one at 9:30 a.m., followed by Persson at 9:39 a.m., Brunzell at 9:48 a.m., Detmer at 9:57 a.m. and Berman at 10:06 a.m.
