Jacksonville University women's rowing has returned to the rich waters of Philadelphia for another voice to add to its award winning coaching staff. Director of Rowing Mike Lane announced Mollie Cusack as the team's graduate assistant for the upcoming season.
"We could not be more excited to have Mollie joining our staff," said Lane. "She comes highly recommended. As a captain at Drexel, she was in a leadership role for a very competitive program."
Cusack joins JU after most recently serving as the head varsity boy's coach and novice/JV coach for Gordon Rowing Services in Philadelphia, a post she held for a year. She gained experience in implementing training programs, setting lineups and managing the athletes. She was also the Head Masters and Junior Coach at Bachelors Barge Club in the City of Brotherly Love.
Cusack, a 2014 graduate of Drexel University, rowed for the Dragons and captained the women's crew team for a year before closing out her academic career as an undergraduate assistant coach.
From Drexel she worked a year as an assistant high school coach for Philadelphia City Rowing before moving to Bryn Mawr College as an assistant coach for a year.
She has a US Rowing Level II Certification, earned in Niagara, New York in 2015.
"I could not be more excited to come to JU, both as a coach and a student," said Cusack. "I can't wait to get to know the team and work alongside Mike, who has years of coaching experience and a great vision for the future of this program."
"I believe Mollie will compliment both myself and Coach Dwyer very well as we strive to take the next step to finish in the top 20 in the country," said Lane.
