EUGENE, Ore. – A decorated career for Jacksonville University women's track and field came to a close Thursday evening as Michelle Howell competed at the NCAA Championship Finals at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field.
Howell placed fifth in her heat and 15th overall in the 800-meter run semifinals in 2:06.34 to earn Second Team All-American honors.
"The quality of this meet is simply amazing, truly world class. I am so proud of Michelle's effort," stated Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Ron Grigg. "She had an exceptional season and a memorable career. We look forward to watching her post-collegiate running experiences."
A two-time All-American, Howell also earned the distinction during the 2017 indoor season. A native of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., she is a six-time ASUN Conference Champion during the outdoor season, including a pair of titles in the 800 in 2016 and most recently in 2018. She also holds the second-quickest time in the event in program history – 2:04.37 – a time set at the NCAA East Prelims two weeks ago.
