Senior Earns First ASUN Weekly Honors

MACON, Ga. – After leading her team to back-to-back wins last weekend and securing her school's fifth-consecutive ASUN Conference playoff appearance, Jizzyan Gesualdo has been dubbed Player of the Week by the ASUN, as announced by the league office on Monday. This is the first time Gesualdo has earned the honor.

"Jizzy had a fantastic weekend and I'm very proud of the way she played her last matches in Swisher Gym," stated Head Coach Julie Darty. "Jizzy feels that the end is near for her career and I think she is really just dialed in and giving it her all at this point. The way she is playing right now is crazy – every match we get all of her and that's all I could ask for."

Against USC Upstate on Friday the five-year senior had 44 assists and a career-best 24 digs, her 10th double-double of the season. She also had seven kills, just three shy of a triple-double.

The Ponce, P.R., native followed up that performance with 28 assists, 17 digs, and nine kills, just one kill away from the Dolphins' first triple-double since 2001. She averaged 10.29 assists and 5.86 digs per set over the weekend.

This is the first time the Dolphins have collected back-to-back Player of the Week nods from the ASUN since Radka Dimitrova collected them on November 4 and November 11 of 2002.

The Dolphins return to action Friday when they travel to Lipscomb, and follow that up with their final game of the regular season Saturday at Kennesaw State.
