MACON, Ga. –Mallory Mattingly was named to the ASUN Conference All-Freshman team, as announced by the conference office Wednesday at the ASUN volleyball banquet.
"Mallory is very deserving of this honor," said Head Coach Julie Darty. "I am so proud of her. Mallory carries a huge load for us, one that most freshmen don't handle very well and I think she has done a great job of managing that emotion and pressure. I think as the season went on, we saw Mal mature and grow in her game and that was huge in helping us secure a spot in the post-season. Mallory was named ASUN Player of the week and was the only freshmen in the league to earn that honor."
Mattingly earned the distinction by leading the Dolphins in kills (272) and kills per set (2.92) while also third in digs (250) and digs per set (2.58). The freshman was twice named Freshman of the Week, and earned the ASUN Player of the Week distinction as well. She was the only freshman named ASUN Player of the Week this season.
"Mallory started the season playing like a freshman, but I think she has started to play a bit more poised and mature as of late. Mallory is a true student of the game and wants to get better. She is humble and hungry and that's rare to find these days! I am very excited about Mallory's future here at JU," said Darty.
