Dolphins Named USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams

NEW ORLEANS – Jacksonville University's men's and women's cross country teams work hard on and off the course. Both Dolphin teams have been named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) Division I All-Academic teams, as announced by the USTFCCCA Thursday.

"Both men's women's cross country teams continue to produce in the classroom," said Head Coach Ron Grigg. "It is a privilege to work with motivated student-athletes."

To be selected as a USTFCCCA All-Academic team, cross country teams must achieve a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0. The men posted a 3.36 GPA, while the women earned a 3.42 in the classroom.

The women's team placed second at the 2016 ASUN Cross Country Championships and went on to finish 14th at the NCAA South Region Meet. The men placed eighth at the ASUN Championships and Jeremy McDermet and Alex Turnock represented the Dolphins at the NCAA South Regional.

Of the 431 teams that earned the distinction, 242 were women's teams and 189 were men's teams. For the complete list, click here.
