JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville University men's and women's cross country teams hit the road Saturday, Sept. 23 when they travel to Gainesville for the Mountain Dew Invitational, hosted by the University of Florida. The men compete in the 8,000-meter race at 7:55 am, while the women begin the 5,000-meter race at 8:30 am at the UF Golf Course.

Among the competition, the Dolphins face several Floridian schools, including Bethune-Cookman, FIU, Florida A&M, Florida Atlantic, Florida State, Miami, South Florida, Tennessee Tech, Troy, and UCF. Jacksonville will also get a preview of several ASUN Conference foes along the course, as both teams will race against Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, and Stetson before the ASUN Championships in late October.

At last year's Mountain Dew Invitational, the women placed second as three Dolphins cracked the JU all-time list. Junior Nora McUmber slid into the third-best time in Jacksonville history with her fifth-place time of 17:35.90. Red-shirt senior Caitlin Marino (18:27.08) and Anna Karaseva (18:27.76) placed 15th and 16th, respectively to earn the final two spots on the Dolphins' all-time top 20 list.

The men's side placed seventh overall at last year's meet, as returning junior Brett Gerhardt and sophomore Alex Turnock both finished under 29 minutes for the Dolphins in 28:18.45 and 28:41.20, respectively.

The Dolphins return to action in two weeks when they head to Tallahassee Friday, Oct. 6 for the FSU Invitational.
