Evan Muys has been named head coach of Jacksonville University's indoor and beach volleyball teams following a national search, as announced by Athletic Director Alex Ricker-Gilbert. A 2017 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Thirty Under 30 recipient, Muys becomes the 10th head coach in the Dolphins' 46-year history.

"I would like to thank [Athletic Director] Alex Ricker-Gilbert and the search committee for selecting me as the next head volleyball coach here at Jacksonville University," exclaimed Muys. "The vision and leadership of the athletic department are strongly aligned to my own philosophies, both athletically and academically, that I immediately felt at home here at JU. I am incredibly humbled by this opportunity that I have been given; I have big expectations and plans for the program and I am excited to work with these young women who have so much that they want to accomplish."

"We are so excited to welcome Evan Muys to the JU Dolphin family as our Head Women's Indoor and Beach Volleyball coach. We conducted an exhaustive, national search and Evan quickly emerged as the right person to lead our young women on and off the floor and sand," stated Ricker-Gilbert. "He is a rising star and one of the brightest young minds in the business. I look forward to working with him, but more importantly, our student-athletes are ecstatic to have him."

Muys comes to Jacksonville after spending the past four years as the assistant volleyball coach at the University of Dayton in Ohio. During his time with the Flyers, Muys served as the team's offensive coordinator working with setters, attackers, and blockers, with additional duties recruiting, scouting, organizing official and unofficial visits with prospective student-athletes, and video exchange.

During his tenure at Dayton, the team compiled a 110-22 overall record, 61-3 record in the Atlantic 10 Conference, three A10 Regular Season and Tournament titles, and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Under his guidance, the Flyers' offense was ranked #11 in 2016 as the team was ranked as high as No. 22 in the AVCA Coaches Poll and finished in the top 75 RPI all four years.

Muys' recruiting efforts paved the way for Dayton to land Prepvolleyball's #17 recruiting class in 2016, highlighted by a trio of top 100 recruits and an additional three in the top 150. Along with three AVCA All-Americans and three additional AVCA All-Region award winners, Muys has coached 18 All-Atlantic 10 selections, including: the 2014, 2015, and 2017 A10 Player of the Year; a four-time A10 Setter of the Year; and two different players who were named A10 Libero of the Year.

Prior to his time at Dayton, Muys spent the 2013 season as a volunteer assistant coach at Marquette. His duties included video coding and opponent breakdown, training with the libero and defensive specialists, and several administrative duties. The Golden Eagles were crowned the Big East Regular Season and Tournament Champions and finished the season with a program-best RPI of 11. His coaching efforts helped Marquette reach as high as No. 22 in the AVCA Coaches Poll, while three players garnered All-American status and Regional Freshman of the Year honors following the season.

From December 2010 to January 2014, Muys served as head volleyball coach at 1st Alliance Volleyball Club. Among his coaching duties, Muys created practice plans, served as a liaison between club directors and players and their parents, and planned club-wide position practices and private lessons. Additionally, his team received three Open level bids at the national level.

A 2013 graduate of Saint Xavier University, Muys was a two-time All-Conference selection and two-year team captain for the Cougars. He still holds the Cougars' single-game record for kills in five sets (23) and points (26.0).
