JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Against Atlantic Sun leading and previously undefeated North Florida, Jacksonville University sand volleyball split a pair on Wednesday, April 9. The Fins fell 4-1 in the first match before winning 3-2 to end the day.

Jacksonville stands 7-13 overall and 5-3 in the Atlantic Sun.

In the first match, Jacksonville’s No. 3 Kendall Courtney and Niatha Cullen defeated UNF's Cameron McGuire and Tanner Garbutt 21-19 and 21-14.

JU’s No. 1, No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 duos lost. Taylor Nyquist and Sammie Strausbaugh fell at the top spot 21-17, 21-23 and 10-15. Lauren Homrich and Rachel Miller and Alyssa Robertson and Emily Laskelle each lost in straight sets while Gabriela Roman and Mayara Prestes fell in three.

In the second match of the day, JU’s No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5 duos came out on top, with Courtney and Cullen sweeping the dual in just two sets. Nyquist and Strausbaugh earned revenge against UNF’s Kim Hildreth and Dagnija Medina, winning this time 21-12 and 21-15. Courtney and Cullen beat UNF’s Garbutt and McGuire 23-21 and 21-6, and Roman and Prestes won 21-17 and 21-16.
