No. 3 Fins Fall to Top-Ranked UNF, Face Stetson Again

FORT MYERS, Fla. – After upsetting No. 2 Stetson on Friday, No. 3 Jacksonville University sand volleyball fell 4-1 to top-ranked North Florida on Saturday morning in the Atlantic Sun Sand Volleyball Tournament. The Fins will face Stetson once more at 1 p.m. The winner of match 7 will face UNF in the final at 3 p.m.


The lone JU duo to beat UNF was No. 4 Gabriela Roman and Mayara Prestes. The pair took out Britt Claessens and Julie Trembley 21-18 in straight sets.

Both of JU's No. 1 and No. 2 pairs lost in three sets. Taylor Nyquist and Sammie Strausbaugh were defeated 17-21, 21-16, and 15-10 by Dagnija Medina and Kimberly Hildreth while No. 2 Niatha Cullen and Kendall Courtney fell 21-16, 19-21 and 15-11 to Cari Whitmire and Anna Budinska.

No. 3 Rachel Miller and Lauren Homrich lost 21-14 and 21-17 to Tanner Garbutt and Cameron McGuire and No. 5 Emily Laskelle and Alyssa Robertson lost 21-15 and 21-16 to Emily Strack and Allison Shirley.
