Former Georgia Tech volunteer assistant coach Chuck Crawford enters his second season as an assistant volleyball coach at JU.

His responsibilities include recruiting coordinator, scouting, team travel coordinator, fundraising and team training with a primary focus on the Dolphin’s offense.

In Crawford’s first year working with the JU hitters, senior outside hitter Aidan Yeager received first team Atlantic Sun Conference and A-Sun “Player of the Week” honors. He was also key in the development of freshman middle blocker Alyssa Robertson, who was named to the conference all-freshman team.

Along with his duties at JU, Crawford was recently named as head coach of the 2011 Team Florida High Performance All Star Girls National Select Team that will compete in Tucson, Ariz. in the USAV High Performance Championships.

In his one season at Georgia Tech, Crawford helped the Yellow Jackets to a third place finish in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) and the program’s first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2004. His responsibilities included opponent scouting, camp organization and team training.

While at Georgia Tech, Crawford also worked with the A5 Mizuno Volleyball Club in 2008 and 2009, serving as a head coach for an 18-2 squad that posted a fifth-place finish in the USAV Southern Region while receiving an American Bid to the 2009 USAV National Championships in Miami, Fla. It marked the first time in history that an 18-2 team qualified for the National Championships out of the Southern Region.

Prior to Georgia Tech, Crawford served as head coach of the North Forsyth High School volleyball team from 2006-08. A health and physical education teacher for Fulton and Forsyth Counties from 2001-09, Crawford received his degree from Miami (Ohio) in 2001. He also participated on the Miami club team volleyball from 1998-2001.

A native of Middletown, Ohio, Chuck and his wife, Lori, have two children: Carson and Drew and currently reside in Jacksonville.
