John McCallum joins the Dolphins coaching staff for his first season in 2011.

McCallum comes to JU staff after serving the last four years as a coach for the Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association where he developed the players on the national and regional teams. He also had a stint during that time as an assistant coach at Nease High School – helping the Panthers to a state title in 2008.

In addition to his coaching experience, McCallum has worked in law enforcement for the state attorney’s office and in professional standards for the Duval public school system.

McCallum officially began his coaching career at the high school level in 1973 in Ocala, working with football, boy’s and girl’s basketball and volleyball while teaching physical education. He also served as the top assistant on the 1986 USA Paralympics basketball team that played in Spain and England at the World Games.

McCallum earned his bachelor’s degree in education from Southern Illinois University and a master’s in psychology/mental health counseling from Nova Southeastern University. He is a USA Volleyball CAP II certified coach.
