Volleyball Rounds Out Roster By Signing Outside Hitter

July 30, 2002

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University volleyball team has signed freshman outside hitter Amanda Fisk from Richland, Mich., to complete its 2002 recruiting class.

Fisk, a 6-1 lefthander, adds size and depth to the Dolphin roster. She played three seasons for Gull Lake High School, where she earned all-conference honors in 2000 and 2001 and made the honor roll all four years. Fisk also played at the club level for USA Kalamazoo Elite earlier this year.

"Amanda comes from a strong club team and is very good mechanically," head coach Robin Mignerey said. "Facing a lefthander will be a challenge for our opponents, and she should develop into a solid player as she matures and gets stronger."

Fisk joins three other freshmen, setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.), middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.), outside hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) and junior setter Melissa Buillion (Alvin, Texas), a transfer from Panola (Texas) Junior College, as the five members of the 2002 class.

JU will host Eastern Michigan, Eastern Washington and Xavier in the JU Invitational Aug. 30-31 to kick off the 2002 campaign. The Dolphins open with Xavier on Aug. 30 at 7 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
