Volleyball Dropped By Clemson, East Carolina at Big Orange Bash

CLEMSON, S.C. - The Jacksonville University volleyball team fell to Clemson, 30-21, 30-19, 30-23, in the morning session and to East Carolina, 28-30, 30-28, 30-23, 30-26, in the evening session Saturday at the Big Orange Bash at Jervey Gym. Senior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) was named to the all-tournament team after recording 34 kills.
Junior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) led the way for the Dolphins (1-6) in the two matches, recording 14 kills against Clemson and a Dolphin season-high 22 kills and 15 digs against ECU. Ahrens had eight kills against Clemson and 16 against ECU, while senior outside hitter Alesha Rodriguez (Cleveland, Ohio) had seven kills against Clemson and 12 against ECU.
In addition to sophomore outside hitter Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.), who missed the tournament with a knee injury, the Dolphins were without senior setter Kristin Withrow (St. Petersburg, Fla.), who injured her ankle, and sophomore outside hitter Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.), who injured her knee.
The Dolphins return to action when they travel to Daytona Beach to face Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
