JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Senior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) hit .326 for the match and had 21 kills and four blocks to lead the Jacksonville University volleyball team to a 32-30, 23-30, 30-26, 30-26 victory over Mercer in Atlantic Sun Conference action Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium. Junior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) added 18 kills, 11 digs and four blocks as the Dolphins (8-10, 3-2 A-Sun) won their third-straight conference match.

Freshman middle blocker Danielle Neville turned in a solid effort with six service aces, seven blocks (one solo) and five kills, while junior setter Melissa Buillion (Alvin, Texas) tallied 40 assists, eight digs and five kills. Buillion replaced senior setter Kristin Withrow (St. Petersburg, Fla.) in the first game of the match after Withrow, who had the Dolphin offense off to a good start with 14 assists, suffered an ankle injury.

Mercer (9-12, 1-5) was led by a pair of players with double-doubles as Jackie Viren had 16 kills and 14 digs, while Jennifer Smith had 13 kills and 10 digs. Setter Molly Gabri recorded 49 assists, 15 digs, four kills and four service aces.

The Dolphins narrowly outhit the Bears, .227-.224, but held the advantage in blocks, 11.0-5.0, and aces, 13-9.

JU returns to the court to host Georgia State in A-Sun play Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
