Volleyball Rallies But Falls in Five to Georgia State

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville University volleyball team fought back from a 2-0 deficit to force a decisive fifth game, but the Dolphins fell to Georgia State, 30-20, 30-22, 22-30, 28-30, 15-13, in Atlantic Sun Conference action Saturday night at Swisher Gymnasium. Senior middle hitter Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) had 16 kills and five blocks, while junior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) had 16 kills and eight digs to lead the Dolphin attack.
Sophomore outside hitter Candice Rose (Mechanicsville, Md.) recorded 13 kills and a career-high 19 digs, while sophomore outside hitter Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) and freshman libero Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) recorded 16 digs each. Freshman middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) had four service aces and seven kills, and junior setter Melissa Bullion (Alvin, Texas) tallied 48 assists.
Lisa Lykins led Georgia State (18-11, 7-1 A-Sun) with 19 kills and 16 digs, while Molly Sapp and Randi Van Dam had 15 and 14 kills, respectively. April DeCoste added 53 assists and Kumi Ishiyama recorded 22 digs.
JU (8-11, 3-3) hit .185 for the match, while Georgia State hit .281. The Dolphins return to the court when they travel to Alabama to face Jacksonville State on Friday and Samford on Saturday.
