Nov. 11, 2002

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville University outside hitter Radka Dimitrova earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player-of-the-Week honors for the second-straight week after leading the Dolphins to their first victory over UCF since 1989, which clinched the Dolphins' spot in the A-Sun Championships Nov. 22-23 in Orlando, Fla. Dimitrova is only one of three players in the league to earn the honor multiple times this season.

For the week, the 6-foot-2 junior from Sofia, Bulgaria, recorded a .320 hitting percentage, 42 kills (5.25 k/g) and 27 digs (3.38 d/g). Dimitrova has posted at least 20 kills in four of her last six matches and a double-double in seven of her last eight, including six straight.

In Friday's win on the road over first-place UCF, which was previously undefeated in conference play, Dimitrova pounded a match-high 24 kills, came up with 16 digs and two blocks. In Tuesday's loss to MEAC power Florida A&M, she hit .441 for the match with 18 kills and 11 digs.

Dimitrova leads the Dolphins in kills (410), kills per game (4.14) and digs (288), while her kills per game average also ranks third in the A-Sun, her .268 hitting percentage ranks 11th and her 2.91 digs per game ranks 10th. She is 14 kills away from breaking into JU's all-time top five for single-season kills and has recorded the third-most attacks at JU in a single season with 1,028.

Fourth-seeded JU (14-13 Overall, 7-4 A-Sun) will have two weeks off before their first-round match in the A-Sun Championships against fifth-seeded Troy State on Friday, Nov. 22 at UCF Arena.
