Volleyball's Radka Dimitrova Named to A-Sun All-Tournament Team

Nov. 25, 2002

ORLANDO, Fla. - Jacksonville University junior outside hitter Radka Dimitrova (Sofia, Bulgaria) was named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Tournament team following this weekend's A-Sun Championship at UCF Arena. Dimitrova was the only player not in the tournament final named to the all-tournament team.

Dimitrova smashed 20 kills, which set the tournament record for a three-game match, in the Dolphins' first-round victory over Jacksonville State and had 12 kills in a loss to eventual champion UCF. For the season, Dimitrova has earned First-Team All-Atlantic Sun, back-to-back A-Sun Player of the Week (Nov. 4 and Nov. 11) and all-tournament honors at the A-Sun Championship and Valparaiso's Crusader Classic.

Freshman middle blocker Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) set the tournament record for blocks in a single match with 10 against Jacksonville State and averaged a tournament record 2.17 blocks per game. The previous single-match record for blocks was eight set by JU senior Brooke Ahrens (Benson, Ill.) and UCF's Shelly Driggers in last year's tournament. As a team, the Dolphins equaled the tournament record for blocks in a single match with 13.0.

Senior Kristin Withrow (St. Petersburg, Fla.) equaled the championship record with 22 digs against Jacksonville State. Withrow's mark, however, was in a three-game match, while the previous mark held by Florida Atlantic's Marja Valkeavouri was done in five games.

The Dolphins finished the season 15-14 overall and 7-4 in conference play, while making their fourth-straight appearance in the A-Sun Championship.
