Volleyball Drops 3-0 Contest to North Florida

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Box Score Sophomore setter Erin Hickman (San Antonio, Texas) recorded a double-double with 35 assists and 12 digs while junior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach/Fernandina) and sophomore outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) each finished with 11 kills but the JU volleyball team fell to North Florida, 3-0 (30-21, 30-27, 30-24), Tuesday evening in the Dolphins' home opener at Swisher Gymnasium. JU is now 0-7 on then year while UNF improves to 6-4.
The Dolphins finished with a .218 hitting percentage including a team-high .417 (8-0-17) by junior middle hitter Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.). Junior libero Erin Donivan (Sarasota/Cardinal Mooney) led the JU defense with 13 digs.
Emily Kohler (13), Maegan Weisert (12) and Jackie Struck (12) paced the UNF offense with double-figure kills while Valerie Martinez notched a match-high 48 assists with 15 digs. Tara Taylor finished with a match-high 18 digs while Weisert also notched 13 digs. UNF finished with a hitting percentage of .304 and 10 blocks on the evening. JU will continue its three-match homestand this weekend as the Dolphins open Atlantic Sun Conference play against Georgia State on Friday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. The squad will complete the weekend against Mercer on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m.
