Volleyball Sweeps Past Lipscomb, 3-0

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Sophomore outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished with a match-high 19 digs and 11 kills while junior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) tallied 11 kills with a .444 hitting percentage (11-3-18) to lead the JU volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-19) win over Lipscomb, Saturday evening in the Allen Arena. The Dolphins, who have won three of their last four matches, improve to 3-9 overall and 2-2 in the Atlantic Sun Conference while the Lady Bisons fall to 6-10, 1-1.
Junior setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) paced the squad with 36 assists while senior libero Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) added 12 digs to the Dolphin defense. JU managed to only hit .192 (42-19-120) as a team in the contest but the Lady Bisons finished with a .100 hitting percentage (38-25-130). The Dolphins did save their best effort for last by outhitting Lipscomb .308-.025 in game three to record the win. JU also led the match in blocks by a 6.0-4.5 margin.
Stoilova now leads the squad with 107 kills on the season (2.97 kpg) while junior middle hitter Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) paces the squad with a .246 hitting percentage, 51 blocks (1.21 bpg) and 14 service aces. Ryals ranks first on the squad with 159 digs (3.97 dpg).
Britnney Lanius finished with 16 digs and 12 kills to lead Lipscomb while Erin Schremp added 14 digs in the contest.
JU will next travel to Troy to face the Lady Trojans on Friday, Oct. 8, at 6 p.m. in the Trojan Arena.
