Volleyball Falls to #25 Florida A&M, 3-0

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Junior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) tallied double-digit kills for the second consecutive match but the JU volleyball team dropped a 3-0 (30-16, 30-18, 30-18) contest to 25th-ranked Florida A&M, Thursday evening at Gaither Gym. Ward, who tallied a career-high 14 kills against Bethune-Cookman on Oct. 25, led the Dolphins with 10 kills and a .280 hitting percentage (10-3-25). The Dolphins fall to 9-11 on the year while the Lady Rattlers improve to 18-2.
Sophomore outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) added eight kills and seven digs while junior setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) also dished out 27 assists. Sophomore outside hitter Petya Borisova (Sofia, Bulgaria) led the Dolphins with eight digs and junior middle hitter Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) finished with a team-high three blocks. Florida A&M outhit JU, .360-.104, but the Dolphins finished with the block advantage, 5.0-1.0, in the contest.
Adriana Kostadinova (15), Tereza Arellano (13) and Maria Andonova (10) led the Lady Rattlers with double-digit kills while Diana Genkova recorded the lone double-double on the evening with 43 assists and 11 digs. Rosa Rojas (15) and Andreina Ruiz (10) led the squad in digs. Florida A&M hit above .300 in each game with marks of .323 in game one, .316 in game two and .429 in the final frame.
JU will next host Savannah State on Tuesday, Nov. 2, at 7:30 p.m. for a non-conference match at Swisher Gymnasium.
