Volleyball Defeats Florida Atlantic, 3-2, in A-Sun Semi-Final

Junior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) tallied a career-high 19 kills and added four blocks while sophomore outside hitters Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and Petya Borisova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and junior outside hitter Joanna Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) each tallied a double-double to lead the Jacksonville University volleyball team to a 3-2 (26-30, 33-31, 30-24, 23-30, 15-8) semi-final win over No.1-seed Florida Atlantic (21-7), Friday afternoon at the Atlantic Sun Championship in UCF Arena. The Dolphins (14-13) will next face the winner of No. 2-seed Belmont in the championship match on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 1 p.m. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament in December.
Stoilova finished with 22 digs and 13 kills for her team leading seventh double-double of the year while Borisova tallied 18 kills and 15 digs and Silva finished with a career-high 33 digs and 12 kills. Senior Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) added 29 digs while junior setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) dished out a season-high 62 assists. With the win, JU has now won a program record nine consecutive matches against Atlantic Sun opponents.
Cayse Kaveny led the Owls with 24 kills while Iana Andonova also added 22 kills. Lindsey Bell tallied 28 digs and 10 kills while Makra Condill finished with a match-high 36 kills as both teams combined for 243 digs in the contest. Courtenay Kiebert also paced the FAU offense with 79 assists.
