Volleyball Sweeps UCF in First-Round of A-Sun Championship, 3-0

ORLANDO - Junior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) tallied 14 kills and added four blocks while sophomore outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) and junior setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) each tallied a double-double to lead the volleyball team to a 3-0 (30-28, 30-23, 34-32) first-round win over UCF, Friday morning at the Atlantic Sun Championship in UCF Arena. Stoilova finished with 13 digs and 10 kills for her team leading seventh double-double of the year while Donivan tallied 35 assists and 10 digs. JU improves to 13-13 overall while UCF finishes the 2004 season at 8-15. The Dolphins will next face No. 1-seed Florida Atlantic in the semi-finals at 4:30 p.m. With the win, JU has now won a program record eight consecutive matches against Atlantic Sun opponents.

Sophomore outside hitter Petya Borisova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished with 10 digs and eight kills while middle hitter Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) added six blocks and senior libero Kelly Ryals (Gainesville, Fla.) tallied a team-high 16 digs. JU held a .162-.140 advantage in hitting percentage, led by Ward's .346 (14-5-26). The Dolphins also led in team blocks, 10.0-6.0.

Tanya Jarvis led the Golden Knights with 14 kills and 16 digs while Kim Clonan dished out a match-high 40 assists and Katie Kohnen added a match-high 22 digs.
