Volleyball Looks Solid During Inter-squad Scrimmage

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior outside hitter Eva Stoilova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished with a match-high 19 kills, while senior outside hitter Joanna Silva (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) added 13 kills, 10 digs and a .526 hitting percentage to lead the Black squad to a 3-0 (30-18, 30-28, 30-19) victory over the Silver, Monday afternoon at Swisher Gymnasium.

Also for the black squad, junior outside hitter Petya Borisova (Sofia, Bulgaria) finished with 11 kills, seven digs and four service aces and senior setter Erin Donivan (Sarasota, Fla.) had 43 assists and nine digs. Senior middle hitter Danielle Neville (Greenwood Village, Colo.) tallied seven kills, three service aces and a match-high four blocks, while senior middle hitter Lindsay Ward (Fernandina Beach, Fla.) finished with six kills. Freshman libero Alyssa Fowles (Hollister, Calif.) also added five digs in the match.

For the Silver squad, freshman outside hitter Laura Goettsch (Woodstock, Ontario) finished with a team-high 11 kills and three service aces, while junior middle hitter Stevenique Richardson (Red Springs, N.C.) added three blocks. Sophomore outside hitter Katie Hendrian (Cincinnati, Ohio) also added seven kills and seven digs.

JU will open its 2005 season against Campbell in the Georgia Southern Tournament on Friday, Aug. 26, at 12:00 p.m. in Statesboro, Ga.
