Lipscomb took down the JU volleyball team in three sets (13-25, 15-25, 14-25) in Atlantic Sun Conference action on Friday night at Swisher Gymnasium.

The Lady Bisons (12-6, 6-0 A-Sun) hit .390 for the match with the help of two 13-kill efforts from Lauren Ford and Jewell Dobson. Katie Rose added 12 kills and nine digs to help the cause.

“This wasn’t our night,” JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg said. “Lipscomb is a team that doesn’t make a lot of mistakes and took advantage of our miscues. All we can do is regroup and get back after it tomorrow.”

Senior Alliya Drzewiecki recorded seven kills for the Dolphins (10-12, 3-4), who were held to a .125 hitting percentage. Sophomore Kylie Jacob has six kills, while freshman Jenna Orner had 10 digs in extended action at libero.

In the first set, the Dolphins took an 8-7 lead on a service error by the Lady Bisons. JU extended the lead to 11-9 on a kill from sophomore Alyssa Robertson. The Lady Bisons took a 14-12 advantage on a service error before closing set on an 11-1 run.

In the second set, a Drzewiecki kill cut an early JU deficit to 9-6. Three straight kills by Ford helped Lipscomb push the lead to 14-6. The Dolphins got a late kill from Jacob, but the Lady Bisons got two more kills from Ford to take the set.

In the third set, the Dolphins used a 5-2 run, capped on a block by Loeppky and sophomore Kendall Courtney, to tie it at 11-11. A hard-fought rally by the Dolphins helped force an attack error by the Lady Bisons to cut a deficit to 14-13, but Lipscomb ended the set on a 12-1 run to secure the win.

The Dolphins play again tomorrow against Belmont in Swisher Gymnasium at 5 p.m.
