Shaun Kupferberg resigns as head volleyball coach
Jacksonville University head volleyball coach Shaun Kupferberg has resigned his position Monday after six seasons of leading the program.

Kupferberg came to JU in the spring of 2006 and led the Dolphins to the championship game of the Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament in 2007 and 2008. In his six seasons as head coach, he led the Dolphins to a 102-79 record, but was 27-32 the last two seasons and missed the A-Sun Tournament each season.

“I want to thank Shaun for all of his work and dedication to our program over the last six years,” said JU director of athletics Alan Verlander. “He took over our program at a difficult time and we wish him nothing but the best in the future.” Kupferberg led the Dolphins to back-to-back 20-win seasons in 2007 and 2008, including a 21-8 record in 2008, which ended with JU falling to Belmont in the A-Sun title game, 3-2.

The search for Kupferberg’s replacement will begin immediately, with the goal of having a new coach in place after Christmas break. Assistant coach Christina Diaz will serve as the interim coach until a replacement is found.
