Senior outside hitter Sara Bendorf tallied her team-leading 10th double-double while junior libero Shelley Walroth added 16 digs and a match-high four aces to lead the JU volleyball team to a 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-16) win over Kennesaw State, Friday evening at the KSU Convocation Center.

JU (17-8, 12-5) hit .156 in the contest, including a match-high .303 (13-3-33) in set three, but tallied a match-high 14 service aces and finished the contest with only seven errors (four service, two receiving, one ball handling). KSU (6-21, 5-12) hit .082 and finished the contest with 21 errors (14 receiving, six serving, one ball handling).

“We played a good defensive game but we didn’t stay in system offensively as much as I would have liked,” said JU head coach Shaun Kupferberg. “The energy was there tonight but we need to learn how to corral that into positive results.”

Bendorf tallied 11 kills, 11 digs and three service aces while junior outside hitter Brooke Singleton added seven kills and 14 digs. Junior middle blocker Nicki Kent (match-high four blocks) and sophomore middle blocker Abby Gruenbacher (three blocks) led the Dolphin defense at the net.

Sabrita Gulley led the Owls with a match-high 12 kills and a .281 (12-3-32) hitting percentage. Paris Leonce led the defense with a match-high 18 digs while Selina O’Leary chipped in with 14 digs.
