JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sophomore outside hitter Sammie Strausbaugh helped the Jacksonville University volleyball team to two consecutive victories this past weekend, earning her an Atlantic Sun Volleyball Player of the Week honor, the league announced Monday, Sept. 30.

This is Strausbaugh’s third time being named Player of the Week. In her freshman season she earned the nod on Oct. 29, 2012 and Nov. 12.

The Dover, Pa. native tallied two double-doubles this past weekend in JU’s 3-1 wins, recording 27 kills and 27 digs in eight sets to help the Dolphins improve to 3-1 in conference and 12-2 overall.

She opened the weekend against Lipscomb (Sept. 27) making 12 kills and 17 digs, along with four block assists, and closed out over Northern Kentucky (Sept. 28) knocking down 15 kills and 10 digs, with three block assists. She averaged 3.38 kills per set, a .333 attack percentage, and 3.38 digs per set.

"Sammie is very deserving of this award," said head coach Michelle Collier. "She played consistent for us offensively and defensively. It was a good recognition for a great team effort this weekend!"

The Dolphins return to action on Friday at Kennesaw State at 7 p.m. and follow on Saturday at Mercer at 3 p.m.
