Kelly Hopkins begins her first season with the Dolphin coaching staff after serving as a volunteer assistant coach with Sudden Impact Volleyball Club in Redmond, Wash. In her one year with the club, she assisted in all areas of the squad including working with individual players during practice and setting practice plans to increase team performance. Prior to Sudden Impact, she had a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Northwest University under head coach Shaun Kupferberg. In her stint with the Eagles, the squad went a combined 65-24 (.730) and also finished 41-13 (.759) in Cascasde Conference play. In her final season with the program, the Eagles set a program record by going 28-4, including a 16-2 conference mark, while also earning the program[apos]s highest national ranking (10th) and its first regional championship appearance. While working as an assistant at Northwest, Hopkins spent three years as a parauducator and teacher at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, Wash. Her duties included working with mentally ill children in a classroom environment while also creating lesson plans, assisting in legal documents (IEP) for special needs programs and creating behavior plans. In her collegiate career, Hopkins played four-years at Northwest as a defensive specialist from 1999-2002. In her final two seasons, she played under Kupferberg before joining his staff. Hopkins earned her bachelor[apos]s degree in psychology at Northwest in 2003 and is currently working on her master[apos]s degree at JU.
