Women's Basketball Falls To UCF, 63-52

ORLANDO - Sophomore Adrienne Billings (Titusville HS) scored 18 points as the UCF women's basketball team defeated shorthanded Atlantic Sun rival Jacksonville University, 63-52, at UCF Arena on Thursday night.

The Golden Knights (15-11, 11-6) opened the game on an 18-2 run capped off by Kristy Colligan's (Durant, Okla./Frank Phillips College) jumper at 12:52. The Dolphins, who dressed only six players, counter with a 25-13 streak of their to cut UCF's advantage to 31-29 at the intermission. Fourteen of JU's points were scored by forward Yolisha Jackson. Dolphin Aisha Stewart tied the contest in the opening twenty seconds of the second half before Billings rattled off five points in 37 seconds to spark the Golden Knights' offense. Wtih 8:49 remaining to play, JU cut UCF's lead to five for the final time as the Black & Gold finished the game on a 12-6 run.

In addition to Billings, Erin Paige (West Palm Beach/The Benjamin School) scored 11 points and Marvelous Washington (Palm Beach Gardens/Palm Beach Lakes HS) added 10 in the victory. Jackson would finish with a game-high 20 points, which included a perfect 8-for-8 from the foul line. while Stewart contributed 12 as the Dolphins dropped to 3-21, 2-15 on the season.

UCF entertains Stetson University on Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. in UCF Arena. The game will be carried live on Sunshine Network.
