JU Women's Basketball Drops 59-54 Decision To Charleston Southern

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Jacksonville University sophomore center Kara Donnell (Mattoon, Ill.) scored 11 of her team-high 15 points in the second half and pulled down 11 rebounds, but the Dolphins fell to Charleston Southern, 59-54, in the consolation game of the Hilton Wilmington Riverside Classic Saturday at Trask Coliseum.

Junior forward Yolisha Jackson (Clarksville, Tenn.) added 13 points for the Dolphins, while senior forward Kat Sungy (Arvada, Colo.) was held to nine points - all in the first half.

The Dolphins (1-2) jumped out to a 22-12 lead with 6:44 remaining in the first half, but the Buccaneers outscored the Dolphins, 12-6, to cut the JU lead to 28-24 at the break. Charleston Southern took over in the second half and led by as many as eight on three occasions.

Charleston Southern was led by Erin Jedlikowski, who had a game-high 17 points and 13 rebounds. Tamara Ruzic added 15 points and Katie LaRue had 12.

The Dolphins return to action on Wednesday when they travel to Tampa, Fla., to face South Florida at 7 p.m. at the Sun Dome.
