Kat Sungy Earns A-Sun Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - JU senior forward Kat Sungy (Arvada, Colo.) earned Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player-of-the-Week honors for the second time this season after recording a pair of double-doubles in the Dolphins' victories over Gardner-Webb and Campbell this past weekend. Sungy, who scored a career-high 25 points against Campbell on Saturday, averaged 21.0 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals in the two games to share the award with Troy State's Thea Herring, who scored 37 points in the Lady Trojans' victory over Jacksonville State on Saturday.

In her 100th career game on Thursday, Sungy scored 17 points and tied her season high with 14 rebounds. She also shot 7-of-11 from the field and added five assists, four steals and a blocked shot. Sungy made her 99th-straight start against Campbell on Saturday and, in addition to her career-high in points, she pulled down a game-high 13 rebounds, shot 7-of-10 from the floor, 11-of-16 from the free-throw line and had two steals.

Sungy recorded her ninth double-double of the season and 31st of her career, while posting her 11th double-digit rebound effort of the season. She earned her first A-Sun Player of the Week award of the season on Dec. 9.

The Dolphins return to action when they hit the road to face Belmont on Thursday at 5 p.m. CST in Nashville, Tenn., before returning home to host Samford on Saturday at 2 p.m. at Swisher Gymnasium.
