Women's Basketball Falls to UCF in Season Finale, 60-46

ORLANDO, Fla. - UCF held the Jacksonville University women's basketball team scoreless for the final 4:46 of the game to down the Dolphins, 60-46, and clinch the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season championship Saturday afternoon at UCF Arena. Junior guard Katie McDonald (Chandler, Ariz.) led the Dolphins with 14 points, including a career-high three three-pointers.

Senior forward Kat Sungy (Arvada, Colo.) added 10 points and nine rebounds and senior center Veronique McMillian (Los Angeles, Calif.) added six points, four rebounds and three steals off the bench in their final game as Dolphins. Sophomores Lauren Woodman (Port Moody, B.C.) and Kara Donnell (Mattoon, Ill.) each added eight points.

Erin Paige had 11 points and 12 rebounds, while Takira Allen also added 11 points for the Golden Knights (17-10, 3-3 A-Sun). Kristy Colligan added eight points and nine rebounds.

JU (6-21, 4-12) shot 33 percent from the field, but only 3-of-13 from three-point range. UCF shot 40 percent from the floor, only 3-of-18 from behind the arc, but outrebounded the Dolphins, 52-30, including 22-4 on the offensive glass.

The Dolphins trailed 28-24 at the half and tied the game, 32-32, with 17:52 to go in the second half, but UCF went on a 9-0 run to take a 41-32 lead. JU rallied to cut the lead to 49-46 with 4:46 left, but couldn't get any closer.

The A-Sun All-Conference awards will be announced on Tuesday preceding the A-Sun Women's Basketball Championship Thursday through Saturday at UCF Arena.
