JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Junior guard Virginia Gregoire was named Atlantic Sun Conference "Player of the Week" after leading the Dolphins to a 2-1 record last week, including a 72-64 win over Miami on Nov. 13.

Gregoire, who earned the weekly honor for the first time in her career, averaged 20.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 3.7 steals while also shooting .468 (22-47) from the field and .444 (8-18) from beyond the arc.

"Virginia has carried us offensively in the first few weeks of the season with her versatility," said JU head coach Jill Dunn. "She stepped up big against Miami and that win has been a huge stepping stone for our program and what we want to accomplish."

In the biggest win in program history, Gregoire was a thorn in the Hurricanes' side as she torched them in every aspect of the game en route to a career-high 26 points. She shot 7-of-17 from the field, tied a career-high by shooting 4-of-9 from beyond the arc and connected on 8-of-11 free throws. She also tied the team high with three steals and added four assists to lead JU to its first win over an ACC school in four attempts.

In a 76-45 win over Bethune-Cookman, Gregoire tallied 13 points, six assists, three steals and three rebounds while shooting 5-of-12 from the floor.

Against UCF, she led the Dolphins with 22 points, nine rebounds, seven assists and five steals in an 80-72 loss at the New UCF Center. Gregoire also tied a career-high by connecting on 10-of-18 shots from the floor.

JU will return to the road to compete in the Lady Pirate Invitational this weekend. The Dolphins open against UMass on Friday at 7 p.m. before playing the winner of East Carolina and Winthrop on Saturday night.
