The Dolphins got off on the right foot in the 2008-09 exhibition season as 10 players tallied at least five points to lead the JU women’s basketball team to a 70-35 win over Flagler College, Friday evening at Swisher Gymnasium.

JU scored 43 first half points after shooting 46 percent from the floor in the opening stanza. The Dolphins used several different lineups in the second frame as JU enters the season with five new faces on the roster.

“It was good to finally see everyone in a game situation for the first time but it was even better to get such a great team effort,” said JU head coach Jill Dunn. “Everyone contributed tonight and we just want to get better with each game that we play.”

Freshman forward Jasmin Coleman led the Dolphins with nine points as every Dolphin who suited up in the contest scored a basket. Freshman guard Ashanti Williams and junior forward Desarae Johnson each added eight points apiece. Freshman forward Teneskei Richardson grabbed a game-high seven rebounds and senior guard DaVina Hamilton and freshman guard Jessica George each finished with a game-high six assists.

Sierra Jones and Chanti Beckett each finished with eight points to lead the Saints. Karyln Reddish added a team-high five rebounds and three assists.

JU completes its exhibition season on Sunday at 1 p.m. as the Dolphins host Francis Marion at Swisher Gymnasium.
