The Dolphins saw a mirror image of itself on the floor as the JU women’s basketball team ended its 2008-09 exhibition season with a 75-66 loss to Francis Marion, Sunday afternoon at Swisher Gymnasium.

JU shook off a cold start to erase a nine-point deficit in the opening stanza and head into the break with a 10 point advantage (40-30). The Patriots rallied in the second half, outscoring the Dolphins, 45-26, in the second frame.

Senior guard Regina Omoite led the Dolphins with 14 points while sophomore center Lynsey Paschal added 11 points and nine rebounds. Junior forward Desarae Johnon grabbed a game-high 11 boards while senior guard Virginia Gregoire had a team-high five assists and four steals.

Jennifer Dyer led the Patriots with a game-high 21 points, eight steals, five assists and four rebounds. Ebony Fields chipped in with 13 points and Shannon Singleton-Bates rounded out the FMU scoring with 11 points. Kevina Ransom added nine points, seven steals, six assists and four rebounds.

JU will open the 2008-09 regular season at Florida on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. The contest can be seen live on Sun Sports.
