The JU women’s basketball team added another guard to its 2009 recruiting class by signing Maggie Wilson of Lexington Catholic High School, to a National Letter of Intent.

Wilson, who hails from Lexington, Ky., joins guards Drameka Griggs (Jonesboro, Ga.) and Abril Peeples (Americus, Ga.) who each inked with the program during the fall.

Wilson, a 5-foot-8 senior guard, was a three-year starter at Lexington Catholic where she tallied over 1,200 career points and was a two-year team captain. As a senior, she was named all-region after averaging 15 points and five rebounds while shooting 30 percent from beyond the arc. As a freshman, was added to the varsity roster which won the 2006 state championship. Among her teammates playing at the Division I level are Natalie Novosel (Notre Dame), Brianna Green (UTEP) and Nikki Davis (Virginia Tech).

"Maggie is a very solid fundamental guard who can do all the little things,” said JU head coach Jill Dunn. “She shoots well from 3-point territory, has developed a mid-range jumper and can deliver the ball to the open person. She brings knowledge and understanding of the game and will add more depth to our guard positions."
