Elsabeth Goshu named Atlantic Sun Conference “Runner of the Week”
Junior Elsabeth Goshu was named Atlantic Sun “Runner of the Week” after recording the 10th fastest time in school history to help the JU women’s cross country team to a fourth place finish at the Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 20.

Goshu ran a time of 18:33 to pace the Dolphins for a 12th place finish. Currently, her time is the second fastest time A-Sun mark in the 5,000-meter. She is also the first Dolphin to receive the honor since Lindsey Moffenbier earned it on Oct. 17, 2002.

“Elsa has looked great this fall in training,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “She has emerged as the leader this program has been looking for. She is an experienced and savvy trainer and racer. I can’t wait to see just how good she ultimately becomes.”

Goshu has been one of the keys to the Dolphins’ hot start in 2008. She ran a time of 12:48 to help the Dolphins win the JU short course duals on Aug. 29. Goshu ran a combined time of 23:45 with junior Tiffiane Saxton a week later which helped the Dolphins edge UNF, 10-to-11, in the JU-UNF 2x1 relay.

The Dolphins will look to continue their momentum on Saturday, when they travel to Macon, Ga. for the Mercer Invitational.
