Cross country competes in Invitational on Friday
The JU cross country teams are more than eager to get back onto the course as the Dolphins will compete in the Invitational on Friday in Titusville, Fla.

The Dolphin women’s team comes into the meet ranked 11th in the southeast region in the United States Track & Field Cross Country polls. They are also listed first in the A-Sun coaches poll for the second time in the last three rankings.

The Dolphin men compete for the first time since finishing second in the season-opening meet on Sept. 4.

“I couldn’t be happier with how training is going,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “We’ll race more aggressively this week and I expect good results.”

Last time out for the women, the Dolphins battled humid conditions to take fourth place at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. on Sept. 18.

JU tallied 125 points to finish ahead of all in-state conference rivals - UNF (6th), Florida Gulf Coast (9th) and Stetson (20th).

Senior Elsabeth Goshu paced the Dolphins for the second straight meet after placing 16th with a time of 18:39.51. Junior Susanne Klungtveit took 25th (18:52.24) in her first meet of the season, while junior Anastasia Fokina ran a time of 19:04.68 to finish 29th.

On the men’s side, junior Andrew Maedel won the individual portion of the JU short course duals with a time of 17:38.24 to help the Dolphins finish second. He also took 52nd at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational with a time of 27:18.30 as the Dolphins’ lone representative.
