Cross Country rounds out Sodexho Stetson Invitational
Junior Andrew Maedel led the men’s team for the third straight meet, while freshmen Amalia Vogler and Morgan Keel finished in the top 50 to pace the JU cross country teams at the Sodexho Stetson Invitational on Friday night in DeLand, Fla.

The meet was the third opportunity this season for the Dolphins to compete on the site of the Atlantic Sun Championship, which is scheduled for Oct. 31.

Vogler was the Dolphins’ highest finisher in the meet after placing 40th with a time of 20:15, while Keel took 45th with a time of 20:25.

On the men’s side, Maedel finished 44th with a time of 28:41 and freshman Zack Smith was the next highest runner after producing a time of 30:19 (74th). Junior Gene Sarsfield ran a time of 31:44 (94th), while senior Clay Garrett had a time of 33:22 (107th). Freshman Luis Belman (34:09) and sophomore Patrick Abbey (35:03) rounded out the rest of the JU runners.

The reminder of the JU women’s team will close out the busy weekend tomorrow when the Dolphins compete at the Indiana State Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind.
