Women’s cross country climbs to eighth in USTFCCCA South Region Polls
The JU women’s cross country team continues to make its way up the ladder as the Dolphins moved to eighth in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association South Region polls.

The Dolphins, who were 11th in the first two polls and ninth in the last one, jumped to a program-best eighth after having three runners make the school’s 6K all-time list at the ISU Pre-Nationals in Terra Haute, Ind. on Oct. 17. They currently sit behind six teams from the SEC and one from the ACC in the latest poll.

“We are running well right now and gained valuable experience against a high level field last weekend at Pre Nats,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “Now we have our sights firmly set on the goal of winning a conference championship in two weeks.”

In 2009, the Dolphins have won two of their four meets they have entered as team en route to earning the top spot in the last three Atlantic Sun coaches’ polls. Since last season, JU has taken six of its last nine regular-season meets.

Senior Elsabeth Goshu has paced the Dolphins in every meet this season, including results the 5k and 6k all-time lists in the last two events.

The Dolphins will battle for the conference title next week when they compete at the A-Sun Championships in DeLand, Fla. on Oct. 31.
