The Dolphins, who became the A-Sun’s first “Triple Crown” Winner this season, earned the accolade after posting a 3.17 team cumulative grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year.
“I’m incredibly proud that this team has been able to excel in both the classroom and athletic arena,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “The coaches set high expectations, the university and the athletic department provide the opportunities and support, but it is the student-athlete that bears the responsibility to perform. To have the kind of consistent success we have had within our program over the years is something the entire JU community can point to and be proud.”
On July 28th, junior Louise Kiernan and freshman Charlene Charles each received individual academic honors from the USTFCCCA to represent the Dolphins.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, one must have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 and obtain an NCAA automatic or provisional qualifying mark for the most recent indoor championships or an outdoor regional qualifying mark in their respective event.
