Women's cross country places second in JU Short Course Duals
The JU women's cross country team had four runners in the top 10 to place second in the JU Short Course Duals at the old Dolphin golf course on Friday afternoon.

The women posted a 3-1 record to place second overall . UNF (4-0) won the event, while Stetson (2-2), Savannah State (1-3) and Bethune-Cookman (0-4) rounded out the rest of the group.

“We are glad to get the season started and the results clearly show us how much work we have to do in preparation for the conference championship race in late October,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “I think each athlete who ran today will be able to make an honest assessment of their current fitness and work towards consistent training in the next eight weeks.

“I want to give a special thanks to Adam Price and Daniel Jones from the physical plant who worked very hard over the last three days to get the course in good enough shape to hold the event. It was no easy task and for that I am grateful.”

Junior Bailee Hedstrom was the top JU female runner after finishing sixth with a time of 13:17.94. She was followed by junior Amalia Vogler (13:22.10, 7th), sophomore Morgan Keel (13:36.20, 8th) and junior Alicia Gard-Kaminkow (13:38.41, 9th), respectively.

Senior Kelli Midden placed 12th with a time of 14:02.86, while sophomore Bienna Freeman was right behind her after running a 14:16.64 (13th). Maycee Dioneda rounded out the Dolphin runners with a time of 16:57.64.

The Dolphin’s women will be back in action at the UF Mountain Dew Invitational on Sept. 18 in Gainesville, Fla.
