THE LIFE OF A RUNNING DOLPHIN: It's game time
I feel it in my fingers, I feel it in my toes…
The lyrics from a song used in many different formats (as in my favorite movie Love Actually), perfectly describes the feeling in my body right now. As conference is one day away and I'm in a hotel room in South Carolina, there is very little going through my head beside what I'm gonna do in less than 24 hours. Tomorrow morning is what we have been working for over the last five months. I am extremely glad we get to execute the hard work we have put down in what I believe is going to be one of the fastest A-Sun Championship ever. It is a very strong group which will stand on the starting line - hopefully the strongest come from JU.
The last week has consisted of maintenance work and tapering up our bodies. We have Thom (Moody) with us who does the massage work to perfectly tune up the muscles before the big day. I also gotta give a shout out to our trainer Danny (James) who has massacred my calves to keep shin splints and other typical "Susanne-issues" away. My pain tolerance has increased to a whole new level, thank you.
We are currently in Columbia, SC, and are heading up to Spartanburg to our competition site in a few. Coach says the course is amazing and I am very excited to see it for myself, to see the hot spots, to see where I need to make my final kick to beat opponents to the finish line.
I don't like giving out promises, but I can promise you this; tomorrow, I'm gonna give it all. I want that gold medal around my neck, and I want to share it with everyone who has contributed on the way.
Cross your fingers and toes and pray to anything you believe in.
It's game time.
