Women’s cross country races at NCAA South Region on Saturday
The JU women’s cross country team hopes to record one more good result as the Dolphins compete at the NCAA South Regionon Saturday in Birmingham, Ala.

Senior Susanne Klungtveit, junior Baliee Hedstrom and sophomore Joane Piere will represent the squad at the meet in their first race since the Dolphins placed third at the A-Sun Championships on Oct. 30.

“The South Region meet will be an opportunity for the three women to have one final test, one final opportunity to produce a self-satisfying performance,” said JU head coach Ron Grigg. “Their hard work has earned them the right to compete with the best in the area. I look forward to watching the race.”

Pierre and Klungtveit each earned first team all-conference honors to pace the Dolphins at the A-Sun meet. Pierre was third overall with a time of 17:51.91, while Klungtveit finished sixth after running a time of 17:57.75.

Hedstrom also ran well by recording a time of 18:38.06 to finish 25th for JU.

Last season, the Dolphins recorded a program-best ninth at the NCAA South Region in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Pierre was the only one of the three who ran last season in that meet – producing the fifth fastest 6k time in school history with a 22:16.88 (67th).
