Women’s cross country finishes first at the UCF Attack Challenge
Junior Joane Pierre won her second straight meet to help the JU women’s cross country team tie for first place at the UCF Attack Challenge on Friday.
Despite running short-handed without some team members, the Dolphins posted 88 points to sit atop the standings with UCF.
Pierre took first for the second straight week with a time of 21:47.32. Sophomore Svenja Meyer ran a 22:47.95 for sixth place.
“Joane ran really well and has set herself up nicely for a shot to win an individual conference championship,” JU head coach Ron Grigg said.
Freshman Sarah Bailey finished 12th in 23:34.60, while junior Amalia Vogler ran a 24:14.51 for 29th. Junior Alicia Gard-Kaminkow ran a time of 24:45.23 (40th) to finish the JU group.
The Dolphins will now spend the next two weeks preparing for the A-Sun Championships in Nashville, Tenn. on Oct. 29.
