Women's Golf Takes Fifth-Place Finish At Gamecock Golf Classic

CALHOUN COUNTY, Ala.-
Sophomore Melissa Holland's 21-over-par, 165 (82-83) led the Dolphins and was good for a seventh-place finish in the Gamecock Classic at Silver Lakes Golf Course on Saturday. The Dolphins shot a 678 (345-333=678) as a team to finish in fifth place, four shots back of Southwest Texas State.
JU sophomore Winnie Dorminey finished her weekend in a five-way tie for eighth (85-81=166), one stroke behind Holland. Sophomore Ulrika Norden fired a plus-27, 171 (88-83=171) to finish in a tie for 14th. Sophomores Pamela Shelley (90-86=176) and Amanda Grigoriou (90-89=179), finished tied for 22nd place and 24th place respectively.
Laura McCaslin of Birmingham Southern, who shot a six-over-par 150 (77-73), won the Gamecock Classic individual title.
Birmingham Southern won the competition with a 60-over-par 636, followed by Jacksonville State (642, 319-323) and Troy State (666, 345-333).
The Dolphin women return to action on October 27, when they participate in the Bethune-Cookman Women's Fall Invitational.
