Women's Golf Finishes Third at Bethune-Cookman Invitational

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Jacksonville's Ulrika Norden (Stockholm, Sweden) finished in fourth place, while Melissa Holland (Jacksonville, Fla.) and Winnie Dorminey (Jacksonville, Fla.) finished fifth and seventh respectively, to lead the women's golf squad to a third-place finish in the Bethune-Cookman Spring Invitational, held at Indigo Lakes Country Club in Daytona Beach. The tournament was the season-opener for the Dolphins.
Norden fired a 14-over par 158 (85-73) for the tourney, just five strokes back of third-place finisher Ulrika Ljungman. Holland finished in fifth (84-75=159), just one shot back of teammate Norden. Dorminey rounded out JU's top-10 finishers, landing a three-way tie for seventh after shooting a plus-17 161 (82-79). Amanda Grigoriou (Bluffton, SC) (85-87=172) finished in a three-way tie for 26th and Pamela Shelley (Alachua, Fla.) (87-87=174) finished in 30th place.
Florida Atlantic's Jessica Polus shot a 144 (74-70) to claim the tournament's individual title, while teammate Natalie Navarro finished in second, just three strokes back. Ljungman of Daytona Beach claimed third, followed by JU's Norden and Holland.
Florida Atlantic won the two-day tournament, shooting a 40 -over 616 (310-306), followed by Daytona Community College (+62, 316-322=638) and JU (+74, 336-314=650) to round out the top three.
