Women's Golf Has Tough Time at Hatter Spring Fling

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Jacksonville's Melissa Holland (Jacksonville, Fla.) led the way for the Dolphins, firing a four-over 76 (37-39) to finish in a five-way tie for thirteenth place after the first day of competition at Stetson University's Hatter Spring Fling Saturday afternoon held at Indigo Lakes Country Club in Daytona Beach. JU shot a 323 to take a tie with Bradley into the clubhouse.
Ulrika Norden (Stockholm, Sweden) shot an eight-over par 80 (42-38) to end her day in a seven-way tie for 37th, while Kristen Yeomans' (Coral Springs, Fla.) fired a 10-over 82 (41-41) in an eight-way tie for 51st place. Winnie Dorminey (Jacksonville, Fla.) (+13, 42-43) and Amanda Grigoriou (Bluffton, SC) (+14, 46-40) capped the Dolphin's scoring, in ties for 67th and 74 places respectively.
Florida Southern's Jana Peterkova leads all individual participants, firing a 4-under par 68 (35-33), six shots ahead of second place Le Anna Wicks of Michigan. Seven participants shot a 74 to tie for third place.
The University of Michigan and Florida Southern are tied for the team competition title after both squads fired a 298 for the round. Charleston Southern is currently in second place, shooting a 306.
